I peered around a tree, and there he was. A young grizzly looking for breakfast. He stared me down to make sure I wasn't gonna bother him, and then grabbed breakfast and was gone a few minutes later.

Wolves are super rare to see inside the park nowadays due to hunting buffer zones having been removed. This was sheer luck that this wolf was scouting along the road, and no other buses were going. Our Denali shuttle bus hung out w/this wolf for 15 minutes.

Another example of how Mt. McKinley makes its own weather. Through a break in the solid storm clouds surrounding the park, I caught this glimpse of clouds boiling over Denali, the high one.
